How to Use This Site

O&P iQ consolidates both peer-reviewed journal articles and AAOP resources relevant to orthotics and prosthetics. The site pulls in new articles a few times a week using RSS Feeds. Currently, O&P iQ follows RSS Feeds for a custom PubMed search and a collection of O&P-relevant journals, including the Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics, Prosthetics and Orthotics International, and the Canadian Prosthetics & Orthotics Journal.
O&P iQ is designed to make it easier and faster to get to O&P-relevant literature. While the database should not be cited in formal literature reviews, it is a tool for transferring knowledge from research to clinical practice.
How to Search
You can search O&P iQ in two ways:
1. Search bar

O&P iQ utilizes an AI search tool that captures similar words and some synonyms. This search learns how to better direct you to relevant results over time. The search function does not use Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT).
2. Blue person

The blue person is broken up into different segments (see bottom of page for list of body segments).
Hover your mouse over the blue person to select Prostheses or Orthoses. You can then select a broad body segment (ie Lower Limb Prostheses), or click into that segment for more specificity (ie Transtibial Prostheses). The blue person can be used on its own, or in conjunction with the search bar.

FAQs
-
Q: How often is O&P iQ updated?
A: Resources are added to the O&P iQ database daily. Resources determined to be clinically relevant are curated and published to the site weekly. -
Q: How is it determined which resources are included in O&P iQ?
A: The O&P iQ Advisory Board developed Inclusion/Exclusion criteria to determine which resources are clinically relevant. For more specifics, reach out to opiq@oandp.org. -
Q: Can I use O&P iQ for a systematic review?
A: The database should not be cited in formal literature reviews. However, it is a great resource for confirming that your search strategy is capturing all relevant information. Because the database has already been filtered for O&P-relevant literature, you can reduce a complex search strategy to just a few keywords. -
Q: Why is O&P iQ only available to Academy members? Can I get access to O&P iQ without purchasing an Academy membership?
A: O&P iQ is developed, funded, and supported by the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists. As a result, it is currently a member-only benefit. If you would like to try O&P iQ but do not have a membership, please contact opiq@oandp.org. Membership information can be found here: Membership Information. -
Q: Can I search author names in O&P iQ?
A: Yes, the Authors field is included in your search. It is best to search by last name only, as not all authors are formatted with first names. -
Q: Is there a way to search the State-of-the-Science Conference findings?
A: Yes, you can select AAOP SSC Findings in the Journal/Source filter. You can search all SSC Findings at once, or limit your search with keywords in the Search bar. -
Q: If I found an interesting article and I want to share it with someone, how would I do that?
A: In the Resource page, you can select the Mail icon in the top right corner to email through your preferred app. You can also copy and paste the Resource URL. For those without an Academy membership, you can always send the Original Source link. -
Q: Why do some resources say Online Ahead of Print instead of showing the article metadata?
A: Many publishers are now releasing online versions of articles before releasing the full journal publication. This metadata is manually updated periodically in O&P iQ, but it may take several months. Check the publisher website for the most updated metadata information. -
Q: Is there a way to export or cite my search results?
A: Not at this time.
